Walks Beginning And Ending At Tweedies Bar
There are many walks that begin in the centre of Grasmere and more specifically from the Tourist Information Point from within The Dale Lodge Hotel. These walks take in the the beauty of the village and the surrounding areas including Tarns, Lakes, Rivers and Streams, as well as Churches, Meadows and a whole host of Flaora and Fauna.
Guides for a series of walks are available from the Information Point and these give detailed way points and good descriptions of what can be seen and where to view the best sights. Each walk is divided into difficulty, with sections of descriptions in easily managed portions. The walks range from an easy, wheelchair friendly 2km, through to the difficult 8km walk.
Walk One: Grasmere Village Stroll
This walk is 2km long, graded as easy, and will take an average of 1hr to complete.
Taking in The Heaton Cooper Studio, Grasmere Hall, Broadgate Meadow, the banks of the River Rothay and Grasmere's Ancient Church.
Walk Two: Low Scorecrag & Goody Bridge
This walk is 2.75km, graded as easy, and will take an average of 1 - 1.5hrs to complete.
Taking in Allen Bank, excellent views of Helm crag and Easedale, Stepping Stones and Goody Bridge. The walk also features Woodpeckers, Dippers and Nuthatches.
Walk Three: A Grasmere Circuit
This walk is 6km, graded as moderate, and will take 2 - 3hrs to complete.
Taking in Dove Cottage, White Moss Common, Loughrigg Terrace, Wyke Cottage and completes a full circuit of Grasmere Lake. The walk (may) also features Red Deer, Buzzards and Peregrine Falcons.
Walk Five: Alcock Tarn
This walk is 5.25km, graded as difficult, and will take 2 - 3hrs to complete.
Taking in Stone Arther, Butter Crag, Alcock Tarn Sheepfold and Dove Cottage. Excellent views of Great Rigg, Heron Pike, Lord Crag, Windermere, Coniston Fells and the Langdale Pikes.
Walk Six: Easedale Tarn
This walk is 8.3km, graded as moderate/severe and will take 3 - 4hrs to complete.
Taking in Little Parrock, Far Easedale Gill, easedale tarn, Sourmilk Gill, Willy Goodwaller Bridge, Easedale Beck and Goody Bridge.
